Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about choosing, wearing and caring for your Daily Eyewear.

Daily Readers are available in +1, +1.5, +2, +2.5 and +3. If you already wear reading glasses comfortably, choose your usual strength. If you're new to readers, you can use our Daily Reading Strength Test Chart to help determine which strength may suit you.

Yes. Our Daily Reading Strength Test Chart can help guide you towards the reading strength that may suit you. Hold the chart approximately 35 cm away and read down through the text. When it becomes difficult to read, use the strength shown beside that section as a guide. The chart is a useful starting point but isn't a substitute for an eye examination if you're uncertain about your vision.

The number refers to the magnifying strength of the lens. The higher the number, the stronger the magnification.

Not necessarily. Stronger isn't automatically better. The best strength is the lowest magnification that allows you to see clearly and comfortably at your normal reading distance.

Yes. If you're already comfortable wearing ready-made reading glasses, choose your usual strength.

Yes. Daily ready-made readers use the same magnification strength in both lenses. If you require different strengths in each eye or more complex vision correction, we recommend seeing an optometrist.

No. Daily Readers are ready-made magnifying glasses designed for close-up tasks such as reading, using your phone, reading menus and detailed work.

Yes. Ready-made reading glasses such as Daily Readers can be purchased without a prescription. If you're unsure of your strength, your eyes have different vision needs, or ready-made readers aren't giving you clear, comfortable vision, we recommend seeing an optometrist.

Ready-made reading glasses provide the same magnification in both lenses and are designed primarily for close-up vision. Prescription glasses are individually made to correct your specific vision requirements and can account for differences between your eyes, astigmatism and other vision needs.

Presbyopia is the normal age-related change that makes it harder for your eyes to focus on things close to you. One of the first signs can be finding yourself holding your phone, book or menu further away to read it clearly.

Everyone is different, but many people begin noticing changes in their close-up vision from their 40s onwards.

Age alone doesn't determine the correct reading-glasses strength. Two people of the same age may need completely different magnification. Rather than choosing purely by age, use the lowest strength that gives you comfortable, clear near vision. You can also use our Daily Reading Strength Test Chart to help guide your choice.

The best reading glasses are the ones with the correct magnification, a comfortable fit and a frame you enjoy wearing. Your age doesn't automatically determine your strength, so choose based on your vision rather than age alone.

We recommend having your eyes checked if: your vision changes suddenly; one eye sees noticeably differently from the other; you experience persistent headaches or eye discomfort; you experience double vision; you have eye pain; ready-made readers don't give you comfortable, clear vision; or you're unsure what strength you need. Regular eye examinations are also important even when your reading glasses are working well.

Yes. If you have the correct strength and they feel comfortable, Daily Readers can be worn for prolonged close-up tasks such as reading.

No. Wearing reading glasses does not make your eyesight deteriorate faster. Your near vision naturally changes over time, which is why you may eventually need a different strength.

No. Your eyes don't become weaker or dependent on reading glasses because you use them.

You can wear them for as long as they're comfortable for the close-up task you're doing. Daily Readers are designed for near vision, so you'll generally want to remove them when looking into the distance.

We don't recommend it. Because Daily Readers magnify close-up vision, objects in the distance may appear blurred.

No. Magnifying reading glasses are designed for close-up vision and should not be used for driving.

Absolutely. Phones, books, menus, labels and recipes are exactly the kinds of close-up tasks reading glasses are designed for.

Yes. Daily Readers can be used for close-up tasks where magnification helps you see smaller details more comfortably.

Use your readers at your normal comfortable reading distance rather than trying to adjust yourself to the glasses. For our Daily Reading Strength Test Chart, we use a distance of approximately 35 cm.

Absolutely. Once you know the strength that works for you, you can choose different Daily shapes and colours in the same magnification.

There's no set number. Many Daily customers keep different pairs at home, at work, in their bag, beside the bed or wherever they regularly need them.

Yes, depending on your vision and how far you sit from your screen. A computer screen usually sits further away than a book or phone, so some people find a slightly lower magnification more comfortable for computer work.

Not necessarily. Because your computer usually sits further away than your normal reading distance, some people prefer a slightly lower strength at the computer.

Reading glasses provide magnification for close-up vision. Computer glasses may be used for the slightly longer working distance of a computer screen. Daily Screen glasses also feature blue-light-reducing lenses.

Blue-light glasses use lenses designed to reduce some blue light reaching your eyes. Reading glasses provide magnification. Daily Screen glasses can provide both when you choose a magnifying strength.

Daily Screen glasses feature blue-light-reducing lenses. They are available both without magnification and with reading magnification.

+0 means there is no reading magnification. You still receive the blue-light-reducing lens, just without magnification.

Choosing a strength means your Screen glasses combine blue-light reduction and reading magnification. For example, +1 Screen glasses have blue-light-reducing lenses together with +1 reading magnification.

Yes. Choose a magnifying Daily Screen strength and the glasses provide both blue-light reduction and reading magnification.

They can. Choose +0 for no magnification, or select one of the available + strengths if you need reading magnification as well.

Yes. Choose +0.

Daily Sun Readers combine a Category 3 sunglass lens with reading magnification. They're designed so you can read outdoors without constantly switching between sunglasses and reading glasses.

Reading sunglasses combine a sunglass lens with reading magnification in the same pair of glasses.

Yes. That's exactly what Daily Sun Readers are designed to do. Choose your usual reading strength and you'll have both a sunglass lens and reading magnification.

No. Daily Sun Readers are Category 3 sunglasses but are not polarised.

Category 3 lenses are designed for bright sunlight and high levels of sun glare, making them suitable for normal outdoor sunglass use.

+0 means there is no reading magnification. Choose +0 if you simply want to wear the frame as sunglasses.

Choosing a strength combines sunglasses with reading magnification. For example, a +1 Sun Reader functions as a sunglass while also providing +1 reading magnification.

Yes. The selected reading strength applies across the lens.

Yes. Choose +0.

No. Magnifying Sun Readers are designed for close-up vision rather than distance vision. Choose +0 for normal sunglass use.

Daily was created to make reading glasses feel like an accessory rather than something you reluctantly need. We focus on original design, frame shape, colour, finish, comfort and quality — making readers you'll actually want to wear.

We approach reading glasses with the same design attention normally given to fashion eyewear. That means original shapes, strong colour options, considered finishes and frames designed to be seen rather than hidden.

Absolutely not. That's one of the reasons Daily exists. We think needing reading magnification shouldn't mean compromising on what you want your glasses to look like.

Stylish reading glasses combine the practical magnification you need with the design, shape, colour and finish you'd expect from fashion eyewear.

Yes. Daily frames feature spring-loaded hinges for flexibility and everyday comfort.
